Advantages and applications

Electric motors are used wherever motion needs to be precise, efficient and reliable. Depending on the application, different motor technologies offer specific advantages: high torque at low speed, direct drive operation, compact installation, precise positioning, smooth motion or robust performance under demanding conditions. MACCON supports customers in identifying the most suitable motor technology for their application. Our experience covers industrial automation, medical technology, aerospace, semiconductor equipment, optical systems, test benches, robotics and many other high-performance applications. From the first technical evaluation to the final drive solution, we combine motor expertise, application know-how and engineering support to deliver solutions that meet the mechanical, electrical and environmental requirements of each project.

Kit / Torque motors

Kit and torque motors are ideal for direct-drive applications where high torque, precise motion and compact integration are required. They are typically integrated directly into the customer’s mechanical structure and therefore offer maximum design freedom.

By eliminating mechanical transmission elements such as gearboxes, belts or couplings, these motors can reduce backlash, improve stiffness and increase overall system performance. They are particularly suitable for applications that require smooth rotation, high dynamics and precise positioning.

Out-Runner Motor Kits

Out-Runner Motors are designed with the rotor positioned around the stator. This design allows high torque in a compact axial length and can be advantageous in applications where the outer rotating part is directly connected to the load. They are well suited for compact drive concepts, wheel drives, drum drives, rotary systems and applications where space, efficiency and torque density are key design factors.

Housed motors

Housed motors are ready-to-install drive solutions with an integrated mechanical structure. They are suitable for applications where the motor should be easy to mount, mechanically protected and quickly integrated into an existing machine or system.

Depending on the requirements, housed motors can combine high performance, precise motion and robust construction in a compact unit. They are a practical choice when reduced integration effort and reliable operation are important.

Linear motors

Linear motors generate motion directly in a straight line without converting rotary motion through mechanical transmission elements. This enables high precision, high acceleration and smooth linear movement.

They are particularly suitable for applications that require dynamic positioning, high repeatability, low wear and direct force transmission. Linear motors can be adapted to different stroke lengths, force requirements and installation spaces.

Stepper motors

Stepper motors are used for precise positioning tasks and controlled incremental motion. They are a reliable and cost-effective solution for many applications in automation, handling systems, laboratory equipment and compact positioning units.

Thanks to their defined step movement, stepper motors can often be operated without a feedback system. They provide high holding torque, simple control and precise movement, especially at low speeds.

Ruggedized motors

Ruggedized motors are designed for demanding environments where standard motor solutions may not be sufficient. They are suitable for applications exposed to vibration, shock, temperature variations, harsh ambient conditions or increased reliability requirements.

These motors can be adapted to specific mechanical, electrical and environmental requirements and are used in applications where durability, operational safety and long service life are essential.

Tailored motors

When standard motor solutions do not fully meet the technical requirements, MACCON develops customised motors tailored to the application. This may include special dimensions, improved performance values, specific environmental requirements, adapted interfaces or the integration of additional functions.

Together with our customers, we analyse the application, define the relevant motor parameters and develop a solution that fits the mechanical, electrical and system-level requirements.
