ELECTRICAL ENCODERS
Technology:
- capacitive operating principle
- rotary and linear versions available
- sensor plus electronics on own PCB
- incremental and absolute versions available
- 1Vpp output like in optical encoders (coarse and fine signal, selectable by control signal)
Advantages of Electric Encoder Technology:
- no glass disc, no light source or receiver, therefore high reliability
- not sensitive against temperature changes (-40 to +125°C)
- vacuum versions possible (e.g. for space applications)
- immune against electrical and magnetic fields
- not sensitive for dust, humidity, shock and vibration
- hollow shaft wit no bearing, direct mount to customer shaft
- „holographic“ measuring principle, therefore not sensitive to misalignment
- much more accurate than resolver, typical accuracy better than +/-0.02°; resolution 4 to 22 Bit
- low power
- short, typical 10mm
- big hollow shaft possible
- scalable and suited for mass production
Electric Encoders are suited for many demanding applications including aerospace and defense, automotive, medical, robotics etc.
